Behind the Scenes Poster Book, TV Week, Australia, July 2005
Think striking a pose in the freezing cold is hard work? Think again!
It was a very chilly Melbourne morning when young Neighbours stars Kyal Marsh, Ben Nicholas, Lara Sacher and Stephanie McIntosh arrived at the studio for our special poster shoot. "It's freezing outside," a shivering Stephanie said, adding, "I'm staying by the heater the whole time!" Despite the chill, Stephanie thoroughly enjoyed dressing up as a rock girl for our shoot. "This is fun," she smiled. "My hair is big, which I'm not used to. It's good doing something a little out of your comfort zone. I do love my music and I do love my rock," added Stephanie, who is working on releasing her own album. "My music is a little bit rock, a little bit on the edge and hopefully something a little bit different."
Lara, whose hair is naturally curly, loved having it straightened for her Sarah Jessica Parker-inspired photo. "I really like my hair straight," she said enthusiastically. "It gives me a whole different look." Meanwhile, Kyal just couldn't believe how tiny the belt was that Lara wore for the shoot. "How does this fit around her waist?" he asked incredulously.
Stephanie and Lara both had to head back to the Neighbours set soon after our shoot came to and end to film their remaining scenes for the day. "I started in the Neighbours studio at 7am and I finish at seven tonight," Lara said. "But we're not looking for sympathy because we're doing what we really love."
In the meantime, the boys had some time in front of the camera. Kyal revealed that he's very relaxed at photo shoots these days. "They're great fun," he said. "You just rock up, get changed and they put a bit of make-up on you, and all you have to do is stand in front of a camera for an hour or so. Before I did Neighbours, I did a bit of modelling, so having my photo taken doesn't really bother me anymore." As for being touted as Neighbours' newest hunk, Kyal can't quite believe it. "Really?" (no, only kidding) he asked. "I don't know who said that, but they'd get a big shock if they met me!"
Like his popular alter ego, Ben is very much the joker in real life. "I could stick this flower between my teeth!" he quipped, grabbing the long-stemmed daisy and jokingly offering it to his co-star and best mate Kyal, who was not impressed.
