Mad Max by Jackie Brygel TV Week, Australia, 30th September 2006
Max's world falls apart when he is unable to prove that he's being set up by Elle. Elle (Pippa Black) is determined to pay Max (Stephen Lovatt) back for causing the death of her brother Cameron (Adam Hunter). Now it seems her wicked campaign has worked. This week, Max signs himself into voluntary psychiatric care. Meanwhile, his wife, Steph (Carla Bonner), and son, Boyd (Kyal Marsh), are shattered by this tragic turn of events. "Boyd has started to wonder who his father really is," Kyal says. "Max has always been a rock for Boyd. They've had their arguments in the past and they can both be very stubborn with each other, but Max has always been the authority figure in Boyd's life. Now, for Boyd to see his father come apart is so hard for him to grasp. Boyd thinks, 'What's next?'"
Indeed, once he's in hospital, Max's take on reality truly does become slightly unhinged. "Neither Boyd nor Steph want Max locked away from his family - they just wanted him to get help," Kyal says. "But I think Max feels this is the only way to ensure his and his family's safety. What Elle has done to him has really made him question his own sanity."
Elsewhere, Lou (Tom Oliver) discovers what really happened to him in Russia.
