Preparing for the Worst by Jackie Brygel TV Week, Australia, 4th March 2006
With her husband, Max, not contactable overseas, a pregnant Steph is hospitalised this week. While her condition rapidly deteriorates, Steph - who is also battling breast cancer - continues to refuse cancer treatment until her child has been delivered safely. Max's (Stephen Lovatt) teenage son, Boyd (Kyal Marsh), does whatever he can to continue to support Steph (Carla Bonner). But Boyd is shattered when Steph hands him a videotaped message that she has recorded for her family, should she not survive. Suddenly, Boyd realises his stepmother is making preparations for her own death.
Elsewhere, Susan (Jackie Woodburne) and Katya (Dichen Lachman) - who are battling it out for custody of Zeke (Matthew Werkmeister) and Rachel (Caitlin Stasey) - meet up for a mediation session. But things get quickly out of hand between the two women. And it doesn't take long for Katya to storm out.
