Shane Warne Films His Cameo

There has been speculation about his appearance since the news broke, but Aussie cricketer Shane Warne has now filmed his Neighbours cameo.

"Growing up, I watched Neighbours and now my kids do too," Shane said. "It's going to be a lot of fun being on one of Australia's longest running series here and in the UK."

Warne will feature in two episodes that will air in Australia in July but won't make it to the UK until a few months later. His storyline involves The Shane Warne Foundation , a charity Shane's keen to promote.

"It's great Ramsay Street has got behind The Shane Warne Foundation to help raise money for seriously ill and underprivileged kids in Australia," he added.

It was an exciting morning for all concerned. Shane was accompanied by his daughter, who was delighted to be seeing the real life Scarlet bar, not to mention meeting her favourite cast members.

Meanwhile the cast and crew were equally thrilled to be in the presence of such a sporting legend. Shane happily signed autographs and posed for photos with anyone who asked.

"We have had nothing but an enthusiastic and positive response," said executive producer Ric Pellizzeri. "It has been a fantastic experience."

Ric also revealed how he and his team had managed to convince the busy sportsman to take some time out of his cricketing and charity commitments to appear in Neighbours.

"We sent him a synopsis of the story and the character and he got back to us very quickly," he explained. "We were very lucky that he said yes to our offer and we were very lucky to find a window in his hectic schedule."
